One of the beautiful things to see are all the summer flowers.
Both the Swedes and Danes outdid themselves with the summer
flowers.  Tivoli was especially lovely.
August 2, Sunday Copenhagen
We left the Copenhagen docks and drove to the centrally located hotel in downtown Copenhagen, the Imperial Hotel.
Perfect location.  Then we piled back onto the bus for a city tour.  We went to the Christianborg Palace, saw the royal
rooms, the horrible French tapestries that our guide was overly enamored with, then, left the palace and saw the little
mermaid, Foundation Church and the waterfront.
After the city tour we got on a cruise boat and saw the harbor.  I always love being on the water.  There is such a
different ambiance and view.  It was a spectacular day, about 70º and a gentle breeze.  A slight rain came up for about
30 seconds, just enough for me to sprout my umbrella.
For the evening, most of went to Tivoli Gardens.   I had a dreadful dinner.  Imagine, bad spaghetti bolognese.  David's
veal was worse and he refused to pay for it.  Bottom line:  free dinner, such as it was.
I've always liked Copenhagen.  I remember that it was expensive.  It's the same now, more expensive than Sweden.
August 3, Monday Copenhagen
Most folks went on the option five-hour tour of Denmark's castles.  I
knew that would be way too much for both David and me so we hung
around downtown, walked around, had a nice lunch and were rested
for the next leg of the journey.
Late in the afternoon we boarded the M.S. Crown of Scandinavia for
an overnight trip to Oslo.  It was a madhouse, but a controlled one.
Our staterooms were nice, especially since we each had our own one.
Food service was slow as molasses but the food was
good...especially the dessert!
